What is REACT?
We are a volunteer, non-profit organization focused on providing community services during both emergency and non-emergency events that require organized, 2-way communications, traffic control, weather spotting and roadside assistance. We patrol the local interstates and major arteries in the Cleveland and surrounding areas to provide roadside assistance to disabled motorists and provide traffic control assistance to local fire, EMS and police agencies.
How do we do it?
Through the use of multiple radio systems such as ham, GMRS, business band and others. Great lakes react trains it’s members in the proper use of these systems to relay important information during non-emergency events such as parades, runs, walkathons, and bike races, and to prepare for disasters where communications are key. In addition to providing 2-way communications during wide-spread disasters, Great Lakes REACT assists local police, fire, and rescue services during smaller-scale events that still may require emergency communications.
